Dancing Show

Today was the girls' first day in dance class after summer break. Rachel did NOT want to go. She said dance class was worse than first grade because she had to speak Chinese and she HATES Chinese. She was visibly unhappy when I left her. When I picked her up, she was all smiles, and laughing and playing with her friends. She was so excited to show me her new dance. She and Erin Joy performed this afternoon with another "great show." (I am privileged to view great shows almost every evening...I know you are jealous....) Chinese dance class must not have been too bad.

First grade has been a hard transition for her. She has been exhausted and she says she is bored. She tells me she has no friends to play with at recess. She dreads PE days because she has to wear tennis shoes and she HATES tennis shoes. They aren't as fancy as plastic Barbie shoes. She loves music and she loves eating in the "feast room" (cafeteria). She really misses her kindergarten teacher and she really misses kindergarten. Welcome to the world of school, sweetie.

Erin Joy misses Rachel at daycare. When I pick her up every day, I have found her sitting by an adult on the bench. She has not been playing because she won't play without Rachel. She is going to preschool in the morning and she will be starting another preschool next week in the afternoon. She will have a full day of preschool. I hope it is not too much, but if she isn't playing anyway, she might as well be learning.

And me....well, I miss my girls and think about them all day. I enjoy my job as a teacher, but I much prefer my job as a mother.

Somehow, we will all adjust and life will be fine.

You are an amazingly FUN momma... I bet you bring as much fun into the classroom, too. How cute is that Rachel much prefers plastic barbie shoes over tennis shoes. Ah, a girlie girl. Cute dancers.
