Mt. Rushmore

Our first view of Mt. Rushmore was through these tunnels. It was amazing. They even cut the trees down so the view isn't obstructed. The pictures don't really show Mt. Rushmore. I tried and tried, but I couldn't get the light right or something. Just trust me...it was beautiful and you really can see Mt. Rushmore. I took a picture of my sister's car as she drove through. Nice dent in the bumper, Sue:)

This link shows the curvy road we drove on several times because our campground was at the end of the road. It also shows the tunnels better. Be sure to watch the video taken from the guy's motorcycle.

We had a hard time getting a group picture. This is as good as it gets. Part of Mt. Rushmore was cut off and not all the kids are happy in their adult-sized shirts. My sister and I thought it would be fun to have matching shirts for a picture. These shirts were $3.00 each at Walmart, but they didn't have kids sizes. Too bad:)
Mt. Rushmore at night was beautiful.
We had a car full of sleepy kids by the end of our long, but fun day.

The huge amphitheater was empty except for a few people sitting in the very back chatting. My sister and I sat and rested while our children played on the stairs. It didn't take Erin Joy long to realize the stage was empty so she needed to perform. Soon the other children joined her. They had quite an audience by the time they were finished.

The first little clip on the video is a barking prairie dog. My girls loved the prairie dogs so I included it so they could watch it. We saw a lot of prairie dogs on our trip. It is just a few seconds of prairie dog barking and then the great show begins:)
