Feeling Like a King

I have a new bed!! I have been sleeping on the futon I bought when I moved to Seattle almost 20 years ago. I planned on getting a bed when I sell my house and buy a new one. I am never going to sell my house. It has been on the market for over a year and only two people have even looked at it. It's hard to compete with three houses in foreclosure down the street and another neighbor going into foreclosure soon.

Anyway, a new bed has been the farthest thing on my mind, but when a friend told me she was getting rid of her king-sized bed and did I know anybody who wanted it, I just couldn't let the opportunity pass me by. Her husband has been unemployed for awhile and just found a job in another city. They are moving from a house to an apartment and don't have room for a king-sized bed.

I have room though! I was happy to take it off their hands. I called another friend with a truck and trailer and he delivered the bed to me. With the help of great neighbors, we had it set up quickly.

Not only did she give me the bed, she gave me two sets of sheets, and a bed skirt. I went shopping for a quilt and the green doesn't quite match the bed skirt, but it is close enough. I also bought a blanket and a mattress protector (don't need a child to wet on the bed...) The quilt was on clearance for $39.95! What a deal! I ended up spending less than $75 for the quilt, blanket, and mattress protector.

When I got home from shopping, my friend had left a message on the machine letting me know he would bring the comforter to church. Shucks. I should have been patient and waited one day and then everything would have been free! Oh well. I now have two complete bedding sets. Nice! I feel like a real adult now with a real bed. My children love the bed too. They have played on it a lot. They would love to jump on it, but they have been great about following the "no jumping on the bed except motel beds" rule.
