This picture is dark because I took it early this morning. Roads are closed and water is everywhere...
...but it didn't get me. I have water in my back yard and a little in my driveway and side, but I didn't get wet from the flood. The river crested at 17.26 feet so technically it should have gotten me, but it didn't. Thanks for all the prayers!
My only concern is the mudslide. Water continues to flow from the bank, into my yard, and into the garage. I think more mud came down last night. I don't like the tree and mud next to my house. It makes me feel very unsafe even though the fire department said my house was safe to occupy. I'm waiting to hear from the DEM geologists (Department of Emergency Management) to determine whether the hill is stable.
I will be staying at a studio apartment at a fellow teacher's house. Hopefully, I can figure out what to do. I think the hill is county property and so hopefully they will come clean it up and pay for it. I don't know if a retaining wall or something will have to be built there. I need to figure out who to call. They are probably so busy with all the flooding that my little mudslide isn't high priority.
I was mentioned in this article in a local newspaper.

I'm glad to hear that your home is relatively safe considering the mass damage happening in the area. I'm sure that once things settle down that the geologists will be able to figure out what to do with the water park in your yard.
sorry this is happening! hopefully the county will deem this their problem and FIX it and your place! take a phrase from seinfeld and chant (SCREAM)SERENITY NOW!!!!
prayers coming your way!
